Having a full, rich beard has become increasingly popular in the recent years. Sadly not all men had the chance to grow such a beard, but with beard transplant this no longer is the case; all men has a shot at having the lustrous, full beard which has become the key trend for men!

There can be a few reasons preventing men from growing a beard; genetic factors, previous diseases or scars on the face.  Not being able to grow a beard   is quite upsetting on the man’s side regardless of the cause. Some men suffer from beard loss alongside hair loss/boldness and some men only suffer from beard loss but if the hairs on the back of the head is suitable for transplant they can be used for both hair and beard transplant.

With Amabilia, after your beard transplant operation in Turkey, you will have the lustrous, rich and thick beard that will last a lifetime.

What is beard transplant?

With an experienced and good-quality clinic and transplant tam, beard transplant is the operation that will give you a very masculine, trendy look with the same technique that is used for hair transplants (FUE). It entails using the hairs from the back of the head and planting them onto the beard area on the face.

How is the beard transplant operation conducted?

The beard transplant technique is FUE, Follicular Unit Extraction, technique; and the steps are exactly the same; differing only on the planting section of the micro-grafts.

  • The patient receives local anesthesia, and once the anesthesia becomes effective; the grafts are harvested from the back of the patient’s head or if the back of the head is not suitable; alternatively, the chest area, cheekbones or the neck. The cheekbone and the neck hairs can be used if these are stray hairs that the patient would like to discard. These can be evaluated and decided in the first consultation.
  • The micro-grafts are reviewed and assorted under a microscope, prepared for the planting phase.
  • Once the harvesting phase is completed (approximately 2-3 hours depending on the number of grafts that will be harvested) a small break is given during which the patient can enjoy a meal.
  • A second local anesthesia is given to the patient before the planting phase and once the anesthesia is effective the planting phase begins.
  • The growth direction of the beard should be considered very carefully wile implanting the hair follicles.
  • The planting phase takes approximately 8 six hours. The beard planting takes longer than the hair transplant on the scalp as the skin on the face is softer and less easy to work with.

Key Points in Beard Transplant

  • The growth direction of the beard should be considered very carefully wile implanting the hair follicles.
  • The hair follicles’ transplant density onto the beard section should be adjusted carefully, if the density is too high and the hair follicles are too close to one another, then the beard will either grow very slowly or will not grow at all. While adjusting the density, the patient’s request about the final outcome should also be evaluated. The final decision should be a result of both the patient’s expectation and the best feasible density possible.
  • The beard outline is developed based on the patient’s wishes and expectation.
  • If the final result of the beard transplant is not satisfactory then a new operation can be conducted.

How Many Grafts Can be Planted in Beard Transplant?

If the beard loss is partial; to maintain a general consistence beard appearance transplant is designed accordingly. For a person without any beard, the number of grafts required for  fully grown beard; approximately 3000 follicles would be needed. 800-1000 follicles would be enough just for the moustache area.

After Beard Transplant

  • The moustache and beard areas must not be washed for 24 hours after the operation. The longer the period without wash, the better the results will be.
  • 2-3 days after the operation, the transplanted hair follicles will grow and will be more prominent, during this time the light scabbing or tiny pimples might occur.
  • The newly growing hairs need to be left as they are or they will need to be trimmed with the help of a scissors.
  • A slightly pinkish look might be present on the beard area after the operation. This look will disappear completely after 2 weeks.
  • No marks or scars would be left on the harvest area, even if 10000 grafts are harvest from the back of the head.
  • In order for the operation to be successful the beard must be left unshaven for at least 1 month. (no razors for at least one month)
  • Two weeks after the operation a sudden loss of the beard hair might occur, this should not cause any panic or worry. It is a natural part of the process.
  • 4-8 months after the loss of the hair, the whole beard will start to grow.
  • The number of hair follicles on the transplanted section will continue to increase for the next two years.
